7th Annual Autumn Equinox Ultra

Autumn Equinox Ultra LogoThis is a low key ultra distance trail race with local flavor.  Come out and try an ultra for the first time.

Race Options:

  • Ultra: Approx. 32 miles – 6:30 am
  • Fun Run: Approx. 16 miles – 8:30 am

Location: Oak Mountain State Park Dogwood Pavilion Parking Lot (Peavine Falls July 4th Run Starting Line) located at the end of Terrace Drive.  Registration and race start are in the Grass Field across from the large Dogwood Pavilion parking lot.

Ultra Course:  Two Loops of the Red Trail (~32 miles) starting by heading toward Johnson’s Mountain and up the BUMP trail.  The first loop is counterclockwise, and then you will reverse directions to clockwise for the second loop.

Fun run:  One counter clockwise loop of the Red Trail

Time Limit:  9 hours.  Cut off time for second loop at North Trail Head is at Noon (~22 miles)

Aid Stations:  Well stocked at mile 10, 16, 22.  (Bananas, PB&J sandwiches, Water, Nuun tablets, Pretzels, Soda).

There is an additional water station at mile 27.   You are required to carry a water bottle on the run!

Finisher Awards:  Finishers of Both distances will receive a HeadSweats race hat.

Prizes:  Alabama Outdoors is providing great prizes worth $500!

Top 3 Overall Male and Female winners will be awarded AO gift cards for both distances.

Additional raffle prizes will be given randomly for runners who signed up via ultrasignup.

After Party:  Starts at noon.  Sit around and have a cold beer and pizza post-run.  Bring a blanket or chair.


Runner Check in and bid pickup will be at 5:45am for 32M and 7:45am for 16M on race day.

Entry Fee: 32M-$40 and 16M-$30 on or before 9/18/15.  Day of race:  $50 (please sign up advance)

Oak Mountain State Park Entry Fee: $4 per person payable at the gate.
